With more than twenty years in media profession and business, Albert Wandago (pictured right) started off as a playwright and actor in 1973 while in High School and by the time he joined the University of Nairobi in 1976 he was already an established short story writer, playwright, actor and theatre director. On graduation in 1979 with B .A Honours Degree in theatre Arts Communication Major, he got his most celebrated play (DUOGO) published and continued to publish short stories and do book and theatre reviews for Nation and the East African Standard newspapers Meanwhile he enrolled for postgraduate film production course at The Kenya Institute of Mass Communications where he graduated with diploma in 1981. Between 1982 and 1990 he worked as a Producer/Director with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting rising to senior lecturer at his former Film School where he excelled in training and management duties. In 1990 he established Alwan Communications becoming it’s Chief Executive and Media Consultant where he not only produced and directed many films and radio programs but also supervises large professional media campaigns for major organizations like BIDCO Limited and United Nations.
At Alwan Communications Albert Wandago remains a great pillar in administration and media professional expertise. In his long career he has attended many professional courses including Strategic Planning and Production for specialized genre e.g. children’s films, African movies and documentaries. In the print medium he has written the Poverty Reduction Strategy (Popular Version) for the Ministry of Finance, and articles in various publications. He possesses a Masters Degree in Mass Communication from Nairobi University and has won a number of prestigious International Professional Awards including Best Film Director, 1998 South Africa International Film Festival in Zimbabwe
